Maurice K. "Pete"  Hinkle
Maurice K. Hinkle, 89, widower of Mary Ruth Matherly Hinkle, died Friday, July 1, 2016 in Lexington, KY. Son of the late Russell and Effa Todd Crouch Hinkle, he was a lifelong resident of the Little Rock community in Bourbon County.
He is survived by sons, Harry Lee (Karen) and James Wayne (Ruth); a granddaughter, Lori (Martin) Elder; and great grandchildren, Thomas and Madison Elder. He also is survived by beloved in-laws, Jack Williams, David and Sue Matherly, Edna and Cecil Linville; and special friends, John Beard and Lucy Snell. He also is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a host of lifelong and new friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Charles Woodford “Blue”, Ollie Burns Hinkle; and sisters, Anna Lucille Logan and Shirley Klueh.
He was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation having served as foreman of the Bourbon County State Highway Office. He was a veteran having served near the end of World War II.
The family gives special thanks to the staff of the Brookdale Homewood Assisted Living Facility for their faithful care and friendship to “Mr. Pete.”
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Rex Graham and Rev. Chuck Perry with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Paul Lyons, Billy Dale, Junior Hartman, Nelson Dunaway, Raymond Kitchen, Jack Williams, and Kenny Mack Hinkle. Honorary bearers will be John Beard, Cecil Linville, Thomas Elder, Bobby Grooms, Jeff Kitchen, David Matherly, Martin Elder, Harold Grooms, Raymond Plouvier, and Wilburn Dale. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the funeral home.
