Obituary for Ellen Frances McClain (Harp)

Ellen Frances Harp McClain, age 93, wife of the late Stanley Thaddeus McClain, died on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Bourbon Heights after an extended illness. Ellen was born in Bourbon County on October 26, 1925, the daughter of the late Harry and Carrie Mae Florence Harp. She attended Center Hill High School, retired from Hansley Mill having worked as a seamstress as well as working many years as a waitress at Jerry’s Restaurant. She was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Helen Arnold and sisters, Jean Roe, Pauline Taylor, and brothers, Larry Ray Harp, William Henry ‘Pete’ Harp and Jim Harp.
Ellen is survived by her son, Danny McClain and wife Pat of Frankfort, daughter, Leisa Tubbs and husband Darrell of Paris, as well as six grandchildren, Marie Skinner and husband Jeremy of Frankfort, Claire Stewart and husband Derrick of Louisville, Kelly Wolfenbarger and husband Kent of Nashville, Courtney Honican and husband A.J. of Paris, Nathan Tubbs of Dayton, KY and Katie Tubbs of Paris. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Jane and Kate Skinner, Ryan Stewart, Reid and Connor Honican, two sisters, Wanda Kates and husband Lloyd, Linda Rice and husband David and brother Harry Harp and wife Judy.
The funeral for Ellen Frances Harp McClain will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Jill Ruhl and Rev. Cody Westcott officiating. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Nathan Tubbs, Darrell Tubbs, A.J. Honican, Jeremy Skinner, Derrick Stewart and Kent Wolfenbarger. Honorary bearers are Harry Harp, Terry Arnold, Lloyd Kates, her grandchildren, Reid Honican, Wayne Logan, Dr. Nathan Moore, Bill Kelly and Unit 2 at Bourbon Heights.
The family request visitation on Monday evening, February 25, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville KY 40205-3284.
