Obituary for Charles McKenna Anderson Sr.

Charles McKenna Anderson, Sr., age 85, of Paris, KY died on October 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Charles was born on July 23, 1933 the son of the late John Siegfrid and Anna Mae McKenna Anderson in Lexington, KY. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Prudhomme Anderson, a son, Andrew Siegfrid Anderson, a brother, William A. Anderson and a daughter-in-law, Janet M. Anderson.
As a child he attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and was a graduate of the 1950 class of Paris High School and a 1954 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering. While at UK he played baseball and later tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals. He attained the rank of Captain in the US Air Force. He served as President of Stamler Corp. / Joy Mining for several years. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Old Timers Club of mining executives and served on the Board of Bourbon Heights. He loved golf, fishing and spending time with the grandkids.
Surviving are two sons, Charles M. Anderson, Jr. and Jennifer Conrad and Laurence Prudhomme Anderson and Sherry Vogel; two brothers, Dr. Joseph Anderson and John (Mary Jo) Anderson; grandchildren, Charles M. Anderson, III, Jonathan L. Anderson, Caroline B. Anderson and Laurence P. Anderson, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Charles and Larry express special acknowledgement to Jonathan who took care of him, taking him to doctor appointments and other errands and to the nurses and staff of CTVU at St. Joseph Hospital.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20th at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers are Charles M. Anderson III, Jonathan L. Anderson, Caroline B. Anderson, Laurence P. Anderson, Jr., Basie Anderson, Pat Anderson, Bill Anderson and Matt Anderson. Acting as honorary bearers are Pravin Patel, Bill Harney, Bill Watson, Charles Cooper, Eleanor Dale, Barry Fryman and Melissa Clay.
Memorial contributions are suggested to one’s favorite charity.
