Calvin Cornelius  Abner
Calvin Cornelius Abner, 77, a licensed racehorse trainer, husband of Gertrude Mansfield Abner, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Saint Joseph Hospital. He was born October 25, 1939 in Estill County, son of the late Raymond and Daisy Puckett Abner. In addition to his wife, Calvin is survived by four daughters, Trudy Lynn Moore, Nicholasville, Valena (Bradley) Sears, Paris, Kimberly Ferrell, Paris, Becky Rhodes, Georgia; two sons, Calvin E. (Beth) Abner, Berea, Lewis (Melanie) Abner, Nicholasville; a sister, Carol Sue (Paige) Stephens, Toccoa, Georgia; two brothers, James Abner, Richmond, Ray C. Abner, Harrison County; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Gayle Modica, Betty Case, Alberta Jefferson, Linda Gail Spencer, Audrey May Abner; and two brothers, Kenneth Eugene and Roy Allen Abner. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Puckett Cemetery in Irvine. Casket bearers will be Calvin Eugene Abner, Lewis Abner, Anthony Adams, Josh Adams, John Abner, and Raymond Abner.
