Obituary for Kathryn Ransdell Grayson (McKinley)

Kathryn Beatrice Ransdell Grayson, 94, widow of Charles Ransdell and William Grayson, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Richwood Nursing Home in LaGrange. She was born February 27, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert Thomas and Callie Osa Beekman McKinley. Mrs. Grayson was a faithful member of Silas Baptist Church where she served as organist for over 50 years; served as a foster parent for over 40 years, fostering over 300 children; served as a volunteer at Sonshine Mission for over 20 years; recipient of the State of Kentucky Foster Parent of the Year Award and the Lexington Leadership Award. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Steve) Popyach, LaGrange, Peggy Ransdell Elliott, Paris; two sons, Charles David (Pat) Ransdell, Lawrenceburg, John A. Ransdell, Bourbon County; eight grandsons, Brandon (Brook) Ransdell, Rev. William Granville “Buddy” (Amy) Mefford, Timothy (Kim) Ransdell, Chad (Courtney) Perraut, Andrew (Lynne) Perraut, Jeramiah (Audra) Perraut, Matthew (Rebecca) Perraut, Adam (Lynsi) Perraut; four granddaughters, Kim (Guy) Bowman, Emily (Chris) Bryant, Christie (Jeremy) Hudnall, Leslie (Thomas) Slone; 26 great grandchildren, Hunter, Brent, and Landon Bowman, Coty and Madison Ransdell, Ryan and Joshua Slone, Katie, Erin, and Max Mefford, Lee Ellen, Samantha, Lauren, and Ethan Sereacy, Carson, Cash, John, Andrew, Mark, Grant, Lillian, Lucah, Madi, Bryce, Oliver, and Ivory Perraut ; and five great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta McKinley; and a brother, James McKinley. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Curtis Coots with burial in Jacksonville Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as casket bearers and her granddaughters will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
