Obituary for Edwin Rice Hillock

Edwin Rice  Hillock
Edwin Rice Hillock, 92, of Millersburg and formerly of Louisville, former owner of Herbert C. Cralle Funeral Home in Louisville and U.S. Army veteran of World War II, died Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the V.A. Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1925 in Millersburg, son of the late Claude and Helen Payne Purdy Hillock and was a graduate of Millersburg High School. Edwin began his career in funeral service as an apprentice at the M.E. Prewitt Funeral Home in Millersburg before moving to Louisville where he was employed at the Herbert C. Cralle Funeral and eventually becoming the owner. He is survived by a sister, Betty Shelburne; and nieces and nephews, Carolyn Phillips, Janice Mason, Teresa Canteli, John Winston Hillock Jr., Ross Thomas Fleming, Pat Meece, Ann Strong, Kyle Allen, and Keith Shelburne. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Winston Hillock; and a sister, Julia Fleming. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Sandra White. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Keith Shelburne, Ross Thomas Fleming, Bill Harney, Rick Meece, Andy West, Wes Johnson, and Darryl Livingood.
