Obituary for Wanda Carroll Calhoun (Hughes)

Wanda Carroll Calhoun, 77, a retired licensed practical nurse, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her home. She was born January 8, 1940 in Pike County daughter of the late Willie K. and Nancy Jane Yates Hughes. Wanda was a graduate of Virgie High School in Pike County, Hager Beauty School in Lexington, and Vo-Tech Nursing School and was a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (L.T.) Handy, Paris; three stepchildren, Steve (Jana) Cavanaugh, Martha “Marti” Baker, both of Middletown, Ohio, Mike (Barbara) Cavanaugh, Franklin, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brittany Handy, Jessica (David) Pergram, Stephen Cavanaugh, Shannon (Brett) Siepel, Shawna (Jason) Tobias, Sarah (Anthony) Farthing, Bob Baker, Ben (Heather) Baker; two sisters, Neva Jean Robinette, Emma Louise Glass; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cavanaugh. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Eddie Pagan with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bob Baker, Ben Baker, Sterling Glass, Mike Hughes, Stephen Cavanaugh, and Josh Paynter. George Thomas Pergram will serve as honorary bearer. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
