Marie Rogers (Caslick)
Marie Caslick Rogers, 86, widow of Harvey Allen Rogers Jr., passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. She was
born in Lexington. Daughter of the late Edward Albert and Margaret Elizabeth Snyder
Caslick, Marie was a graduate of Paris High School and the University of Kentucky after beginning her
collegiate studies at Vanderbilt University.

Marie is survived by three daughters, Marie R. Toler, Durham, North Carolina, Jane Allen (Timothy)
Lucas, Midway; Margaret (Michael) Jacobs, Lexington; a son, Harvey Allen "Hal" (Suzy) Rogers III,
Lexington; six grandchildren, Matthew S. Toler, Ashely Lucas (Todd) Dunham, Aaron M. Lucas, Heather (Matt) McCarty, Hanna Rogers (Reid) Wahlbrink, Kate Elizabeth Rogers; and three great grandchildren,
Caitlin Elissa McCarty, Dylan Jacobs McCarty, and Charlotte Allen Dunham. A sister, Eleanor Caslick Scott,
preceded her in death but sadly just a week earlier on April 21, 2017. They will be buried on the same day,
Saturday, May 13, 2017, Mother's day weekend. The first cousins will be together in spirit, mourning the
loss of their cherished Mothers.

Marie was active in all parts of her children's lives. While the children were young she volunteered
with PTA and the Girl Scouts. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for thirty years. After the death of
her husband in 2008 she became the family matriarch. The glue that kept regular family gatherings
understood as important events to her, to her children, grandchildren and the extended family.

She will be remembered as a faithful servant of God who served in multiple organizations of her Church.
Marie served the Episcopal Church Women on the Parish, Diocesan and National level. On the diocesan level she served as recording secretary, parliamentarian, vice president and United Thank Offering (UTO) Chairman. On the national level, she was a delegate to four Triennial meetings. She served as both
the Finance Chair and Chair of the National UTO Committee. She volunteered in Christ Church
Bookstore for numerous years. She was a familiar figure at Cathedral Domain retreats with her
binoculars, bird and wildflower books in hand. She contributed to her churches' sanctuary with needle
pointed Cathedral Banner, Dean's Chair and numerous kneelers at Christ Church Cathedral. She
served as the recording secretary under three Bishops at the Diocese of Lexington.

Family will gather at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris, Kentucky at 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 13 before proceeding to the Paris Cemetery for a private internment. All friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service for Marie at Christ Church Cathedral; 166 Market St., Lexington, Kentucky at 4:30 PM followed by a reception at the Cathedral.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cathedral Domain or the Episcopal Church Women's United Thank Offering of Christ Church Cathedral.
