Obituary for William Arnold Shelly

William Arnold Shelly, 91, US Army veteran of World War II, husband of Lucille Fields Shelly, died Thursday, November 24, at Bourbon Community Hospital. He was born January 1, 1925 in Roger Springs, Tennessee, son of the late Charlie and May Yopp Shelly. Bill was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Paris Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter, Elaine (Wayne) Ray, Paris; two sons, Johnny Shelly, Cynthiana, Chuck (Lee Ann) Shelly, Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Tina Turner, Jacquie Rankin, Josh Ray, Jamie Conner, Mandy Shelly, Zack Shelly; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Davis, Shirley Foshee; nine great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, at Paris Church of Christ followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. by Minister Clay Leonard with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Buddy Mattox, Jim Sullivan, Josh Ray, Wilbert Winkle, Zack Shelly, Russ Rogers, Mike Himes, and Billy McWhorter. Honorary bearers will be Roy Ross, Cecil Ritchie, Frank Anderson, George Rogers, George Avery, Henry Norris, and Charlie McCann. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Paris Church of Christ.
