Obituary for Elizabeth Brooks "Betsy" Woodford

Elizabeth “Betsy” Brooks Woodford, 96, a retired teacher for Paris Independent Schools with over 40 years of service, died Monday, November 21, 2016. She was born October 11, 1920 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Samuel Brooks and Katherine Weathers Woodford. Miss Woodford was a graduate of Paris High School, received her degree in education from the University of Kentucky, a member of Phi Beta Kappa sorority, member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority from which she had received her 75 year pin, and was a member of Paris First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a nephew, William A. (Carolyn) Woodford, Lexington; two nieces, Martha W. (Delwood) Carr, Bourbon County, Katherine W. (Larry) Grayson, Auburn, Kentucky; great nephews, Michael Woodford, Texas, Todd Wiegele, Lexington; great nieces, Emily Grayson, Rebecca Grayson, Auburn, Kentucky; and many cousins including Betsy R. Kuster, Woodford R. Henegar, Marjorie Anne Wornall, Dr. Perry Wornall, Betsy Dodge Steiner, Mayme W. Denison, and Lucy B. Park. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Woodford and his wife, Kent; and a great niece, Elizabeth W. Gardner. A graveside memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, at the Paris Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or First Presbyterian Church.
