Alice Lucille Snider Shinn, 87, retired dietary manager for the Bourbon County Schools, widow of George Leonard Shinn, died Friday, June 24, 2016 at her home, Bourbon Heights. She was born September 18, 1928 in Ravenswood, West Virginia, daughter of the late Elisha Ellis and Cora Bell Rardon Snider. Alice was a 1947 graduate of Ravenswood High School and was a member of Rose Rebekah Lodge #7, American Legion Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Alan Lewis Shinn (Bonnie Becraft), Paris, Andrew Lowell Shinn (Martha Marchant), Ravenswood, WV; five grandchildren, Jessica Sue (Kevin) Adams, Paris, Daniel Alan Shinn, Columbus, OH, Alissa Nicole (Jason) Ralls, Paris, Alicia Ruth Shinn, Columbus, OH, Christopher Clayton Harris, Paris; three great grandchildren, America Maelyse Adams, Boston Ellis Adams, Finley Jase Ralls; a sister-in-law, Dolores (Darrell) Durst, Cottageville, WV; and special friends, Sue and Rick Harris, Katie and Jimmy Allen, Jean Patton, Bonnie Robinson, Carolyn Lee, Julie Garrison, Barbara Willard, Jeff, Stephanie, and Levi Hollon. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Maxine Shinn; and her faithful companion, “Shadow”. Visitation and a celebration of Alice’s life will take place on Tuesday, June 28, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rebekah Service at 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, WV. Honorary bearers will be Darrin Allen, Gary Allen, Rick Harris, Richard Eads, Christopher Harris, Gayle Rees, Levi Hollon, and members of Rose Rebekah Lodge #7, American Legion, and American Legion Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, or more importantly to honor Alice, make a once a month commitment to visit the residents of Bourbon Heights.
