Obituary for Marianne Gebhardt (Semer)

Marianne Gebhardt, 91, a teacher, homemaker, and breeder of American Saddlebred horses, widow of Salton Bryan Gebhardt, died Friday, May 20, 2016 at her home. She was born December 29, 1924 in Escanaba, Michigan, daughter of the late John A. and Susan Christoph Semer, a graduate of Marshall University, and was a member of the Paris-Bourbon County Garden Club and Paris First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Marianne is survived by a daughter, Susan Jane Gebhardt Shepherd, Paris; two sons, Paul A. Gebhardt and wife Jennie, Blountville, Tennessee, John S. Gebhardt, Little River, South Carolina; three grandsons, Matthew Ryan Gebhardt, Craig Andrew Gebhardt, Zachary Bryan Gebhardt; three great grandsons; two nieces, Sherri A. Clark, Charleston, West Virginia, Catherine S. Marcum, Huntington Beach, California; and three great nieces, Callie D. Clark, Lindsey Gay, and Melanie Marcum. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the First Christian Church. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church by Rev. Jeff Bell. A graveside service will be held Thursday afternoon at the Union Ridge Cemetery, Ona, West Virginia.
