Obituary for Orville Lanter

Orville  Lanter
Orville Lanter, 95, retired owner and operator of Lanter’s Ashland Service Station, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his home. He was born December 17, 1920 in Bourbon County, son of the late Jesse and Mary Bell Crump Lanter, attended Millersburg School, and was a member of Bedford Acres Christian Church and V.F.W. Orville is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Joe) Brooks; granddaughter, Tracy Arnold; three great grandchildren, Alicia Arnold, Madison Arnold, Jaycee Arnold; a sister, Ida Traylor; sister-in-law, Barbara Lanter; two stepchildren, William Weaver, Jerry Weaver; five step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Lanter; and two sisters, Christine Meiboom, and Virgie Woodall. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Jack Wilhite with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Earl Arnold, Ricky Weaver, Jeff Arnold, Bill Rawlings, Harry Harp, James Brooks, and Todd Carpenter. Honorary bearers will be Barbara Lanter, Bruce Bailey, Eugene Tubbs, Mike Thornton, Harold Bussell, and the Hardee’s Breakfast Bunch. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Alzheimer’s Association.
