Gene D.  Rankin
Gene D. Rankin, 90, a retired salesman for Bruce Flooring, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, widower of Lucreasie “Totsy” Lanter Rankin, died Friday, May 6, 2016, at Baptist Health Lexington. He was born August 8, 1925 in Bourbon County, son of the late William Henry and Iva Carter Rankin. Gene attended North Middletown High School, was a former member of Bourbon Lodge #23, I.O.O.F., and was a member and Deacon of Spears Mill Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Billy (Patty) Rankin; daughter, Peggy (Donald) Hutson; four grandchildren, Darren Hutson, Christy (Vince) Wagner, Wendy Mahanna, Marty (Anna) Rankin; nine great grandchildren, Zachary Hutson, Megan Hutson, Haley Wagner (Matt Hager), Hannah Wagner, Alex Rankin, Corigan Mahanna, Mikayla Rankin, Lauren Rankin, Alyssa Rankin; two great, great grandchildren, Clayton Hedges, Katy D. Hutson; and a sister, Alice Johnson. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Connor Mahanna; five sisters, Evelyn Rankin, Audura Rankin, Rena Tolson, Billie Cooper, Claudia Elam; and two brothers, Carl and Harrison Rankin. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Bro. Philip D. Ronk with burial in Jacksonville Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Marty Rankin, Darren Hutson, Gayle Garrison, David Lanter, Zachary Hutson, and Matt Hager. The Deacons of Spears Mill Baptist Church will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
