Ethelbert Charles "Bert" Nichols, 77, Brentsville Road, owner of Nichols' Garage, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, husband of Margaret Derrickson Nichols, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born September 6, 1933 in Bourbon County, son of the late Charlie and Mary Elizabeth Fugate Nichols, a graduate of Western High School, and was a member of American Legion Post #165 and Veaches Chapel. Bert is also survived by six daughters, Kathleen Stout, Bourbon County, Stella Nichols, Cincinnati, Allyson (Mark) Mulder, Lexington, Sherril (Ernest) Carter, Lexington, Nickolette Scott, Lexington, Marsha Nichols, Paris; five sons, Cleo Carson, Louisville, Darrell Nichols, Cincinnati, Wayne Nichols, Lexington, Gregory Dunnigan, Lexington, Charles Nichols, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Nichols, Paris; two sisters, Viola Nichols, Margaret Nichols; a brother, Harvey (Jackie) Nichols; two aunts, Rachel Fischer, Viola White; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Nichols; three brothers, James Murray, Fayette and Walter Nichols; and six sisters, Ann Jones, Martha Nichols, Josephine Warfield, Delores Happy, Ruby Holland, and Ruth McDonald. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, at the First Christian Church, High Street, with burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:0 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home.
