Charles C. Johnston Jr., 92, formerly of North Middletown, a retired AT&T employee, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, widower of Margaret Blakemore Johnston, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at Dover Manor Nursing Home in Georgetown. He was born December 14, 1922 in Jackson, Kentucky, son of the late Charles C. and Anna McCord Johnston. Charles was a graduate of Clark County High School, a member of AT&T Pioneers, Hope Lodge #246, F&AM in Little Rock, North Middletown Community Club, former member of North Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member and Deacon Emeritus of North Middletown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he had been active in the Christian Men's Fellowship. He is survived by a daughter, Janie (Roy) Baber; two sons, Charles "Butch" (Monica) Johnston, Perry (Tina) Johnston; six grandchildren, Jackie Baber, Ashley Baber, Haley Wood, Josh Vance, Jacob Vance, Keith Lancaster; and four great grandchildren, Henri Baber, Will Wood, Elise Lancaster, and Jack Vance. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, at North Middletown Cemetery by Rev. Stephanie Moon. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Christian Men's Fellowship of North Middletown Christian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
