Velma Brown Tingle, 94, widow of Charles Tingle, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at The Willows at Citation in Lexington. She was born December 9, 1920 in English, Kentucky, daughter of the late George and Anna Lee Robertson Brown and was a graduate of Carrollton High School. Mrs. Tingle was a member and Deacon of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was active in C.W.F., Tinder Harris Circle, Hanna Sunday School Class, and Weekly Bible Study Group. She is survived by a son, Dr. Charles W. (Gail) Tingle, Morehead; a daughter, Charlotte Ann Tingle (Lonnie) Owens; five grandchildren, Charles Adam (Lori) Tingle, Capt. Nathan Brown (Dana) Tingle, Dr. Emily Lynn (Stan) Settle, Aaron Brown Owens, Anna Lauren (Todd) Martin; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha E. Brown, Mary W. Garrett; and a brother, George W. Brown. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, at First Christian Church, 911 High Street, Paris, KY by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in English Cemetery, Carroll County. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Casket bearers will be Adam Tingle, Nathan Tingle, Stan Settle, Lonnie Owens, Todd Martin, Charles W. Tingle, and Clyde Parsons. Honorary bearers will be Peggy Blackburn and members of Tinder Harris Circle, Hanna Sunday School Class, and the Weekly Bible Study Group. Memorials are suggested to Disciples Women Educational Fund, First Christian Church, 911 High Street, Paris, KY 40361.
