John Gordon Goode Jr., 75, retired teacher, basketball coach, and golf coach for Paris City Schools after 23 years of service, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at The Willows at Citation. He was born February 2, 1940 in Paris, son of the late John Gordon and Anna Savage Goode. He was a graduate of Paris High School and Transylvania University and received his Master's Degree from Georgetown College. Gordon was an avid golfer, a member of Stoner Creek Country Club, Thoroughbred Club, and First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a sister, Kathy Goode (Ron) Boaz, Paris; a niece, Katie (Ben) Royse, Paris; two nephews, Chris (Kristi) Boaz, Brad (Kitti) Boaz, both of Lexington; a great niece, Harper Boaz; and a great nephew, Layne Royse. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Chris Boaz, Brad Boaz, Ben Royse, Melvin Kendrick, Mike Lennox, Thomas Winn Talbot, and Dickie Baldwin. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Jones and Charlton Cox. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
