Corrine \"Peach\" Gayhart Nichols, 87, of Paris, KY, widow of Gene \"Nick\" Howard Nichols, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home in Paris. She was born January 28, 1926 in Garrard County, daughter of the late Steve and Minnie Pearl Fathergill Gayhart. Peach was known for her talent of quilt making and her love of country music, especially the tunes of her nephew, J.D. Crowe. Peach and Nick married when she was 13 years old on December, 23, 1939 and later had three sons.
Peach is survived by one son, Charles (Carajean) Nichols; six grandchildren, Christie Nichols, Bryan Nichols, Cindy (Branson) Eubank, Chad (Angie) Nichols, Jennifer (David) Jackson, Matthew (Meg) Nichols; and her nine great grandchildren, Austin Nichols, Alexis Nichols, Griffin Wigglesworth, Cole Nichols, Carlie Eubank, Reese Eubank, Jena Eubank, Tyler Jackson and Seth Jackson.
Peach was preceded in death by two sons Virgil (Molly) Nichols and Ted (Bonnie) Nichols.
Peach was a member of Old Union Christian Church and a council resident at Bourbon Heights.
Along with her family, Peach leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews along with many wonderful friends.
Services for our beloved mother and grandmother will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Scott Winkler with burial in Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Cecil Gayhart, Randy Richards, Austin Nichols, Matt Nichols, Chad Nichols, Branson Eubank, J.D. Crowe, and J.W. Fister. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Donations can be made to Bourbon Heights Nursing Home or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
